SERVICE - Harvesting at Hydroponic Gardens
Jul. 16, 2026 10:00 a.m. - 11:58 a.m.
RSVP to John Richmond
Please meet John at 10 am on July 16th in the Laird Art Building at UWSP Marshfield Campus.  We are going to be working with Nick Varner of Fork Farms.  Nick gave us a presentation back in May about the Hydroponic Gardens at UWSP.  We are going to be helping him and his staff harvest food that day.
Please note that we will be working in green house conditions (78-80 degrees with 65% humidity) so he recommends short sleeves and Cargo shorts.
The farm has biosecurity rules to follow that I have attached for your reading pleasure.
Farm Rules
  • All hands must be properly washed and gloved.
  • No food or drink allowed in the farm, including chewing gum.
  • Clean clothes and shoes are required. No pet hair on any clothing.
  • Those handling produce will not be allowed to have their phones on their person until they are done handling produce.
  • Long hair tied back.
  • Remove all jewelry except for a tucked in necklace, earrings, or silicone wedding band.
  • These symptoms preclude an employee from working and handling fresh produce or food contact surfaces: ○ • Diarrhea
    • Fever
    • Vomiting
    • Jaundice
    • Sore throat with fever
    • Open cuts or wounds
    • Lesions containing pus (including boils or infected wounds, however small) on the hand, wrist, or any exposed body part.
  • Follow all rules and requests of the farm manager.
  • Most importantly, have FUN!
The produce we grow goes to the Marshfield Clinic’s cafeteria. We do not want to introduce any foodborne illnesses to a hospital. Thank you very much, and your compliance is greatly appreciated by Fork Farms and the staff/patients of the Marshfield Clinic.
